We are currently seeking volunteers for the following roles.
Volunteer Bereavement Counsellors
Volunteer Bereavement Counsellors will be registered professionals with post-qualification experience of working with children and young people on a one-to-one basis. Experience of bereavement counselling would be very helpful, but is not essential.
We are looking for volunteers who are prepared to travel to work with children in schools across Cambridgeshire. At present, we are especially needing volunteers prepared to work in Huntingdonshire, Fenland and East Cambridgeshire. Volunteers will need a driving licence and access to a vehicle.
All our volunteers undergo appropriate training and receive clinical supervision. We provide resources for arts and play therapy and reimburse travel, subsistence and telephone expenses. We are looking for a minimum commitment of 30 half-days over a year, including a monthly group supervision.
At the moment, we are not offering volunteering opportunities counselling professionals in training, as we are unable to provide the level of supervision required.

Family Day Volunteers
We are looking to re-launch our programme of family days and have been offered use of a play barn venue near Cambridge for these events.
Family Days are an opportunity for children and families who have been bereaved to meet up in a low pressure setting, have fun, and meet others.
We are looking for volunteers to help with hosting and stewarding these events and also with pre-event organisation. People with first aid qualifications would be especially helpful, but the most important thing is a welcoming and supportive manner.
Reasonable expenses will be re-imbursed.

Volunteers are covered by Stars professional indemnity and public liability insurances. All volunteers are interviewed before appointment. We require references; an enhanced DBS check; and completion of approved safeguarding training, which we will arrange.
