A huge festive thank you to the wonderful members of Light Cambridge (RCCG City of David Cambridge) who have raised the amazing total of £1,356.69 to enable STARS to continue supporting children and young people facing grief and dealing with the loss of a loved one.

Light held a virtual Christmas event on Saturday 12th December with live music and inspirational contributions from a wide range of people. It was a joyful celebration, with guest speakers that included the Mayor of Cambridge who delivered a Christmas message. Members also took the opportunity to reflect on the difficult and challenging experiences for children and young people facing grief, particularly at this time during the pandemic.

Laura Eghobamien from Light Cambridge shared why STARS had been chosen this year: “We decided to support STARS because 2020 has been an incredibly difficult year for each and every one of us who have lost loved ones. We were especially drawn to the work that STARS were doing to help young people facing bereavement. We felt this work was vital at this time and wanted to contribute financially to support their ongoing work.”

STARS Trustee Julia Curtis, who attended the virtual event, said: “The generosity of Light Cambridge will help to provide expert counselling and support services to children through individual counselling, supporting their families and schools. Thank you to everyone from all at STARS – what a difference your donation will make!”
